About Us
Community Cooks mobilizes volunteers to provide home-cooked meals for vulnerable populations seeking assistance from human service agencies in Greater Boston. Every day, local nonprofits provide critical support to vulnerable neighbors, yet often lack either the funding to cover the cost of food, the staff resources to prepare food—or both. CC’s model harnesses the power of community to fill this chronic gap in services—the need for reliable, tailored meals that both nourish food-insecure neighbors and enhance our partner programs’ ability to focus on their missions, create community, reduce service barriers, and provide diners with the fuel to focus on development, healing, education, and recovery. Our work builds bridges between neighbors who have the resources to help and neighbors who are in need, thus promoting volunteerism and community building as a means of improving the world.
