About Us
With nearly 1,100 children participating at different levels of play, Somerville Youth Soccer is the largest youth sports organization in the city. SYS exists to provide an opportunity for youth to participate in the sport of soccer as part of an organization comprising players, parents, volunteers and corporate sponsors. We are devoted to providing training in the rules and regulations of the sport, encouraging the development of individual skills, promoting physical fitness, and fostering teamwork and fair play. Winning is fun and exciting but -- most importantly -- we want to teach our children that striving to do their personal best is what really matters most.
Somerville Youth Soccer is a volunteer organization founded in 1990 by a small group of parents working with the Somerville Recreation Commission.
At the time, Somerville had no organized program for youth soccer, as many children were registered to play in other towns.
